Terms of Service
Effective date: April 21, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CourtSensei (the "Service"), operated by the CourtSensei team ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
CourtSensei is a web application for basketball coaches to create and organize plays, drills, playbooks, practice plans, video clips, and scouting reports. Features may change over time.
2. Accounts
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access. Accounts are for a single user unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3. Your Content
You retain all rights to the content you upload, create, or store on the Service ("Your Content"), including plays, drills, diagrams, videos, clips, bookmarks, notes, and uploaded files. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, display, and process Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you.
You represent that you have the rights to upload and use Your Content, and that it does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights. You are solely responsible for Your Content.
4. Shared and Public Content
Features such as shareable playlists allow you to make specific content accessible via a public link. Once you enable sharing, anyone with the link may view that content until you disable sharing or rotate the share token. You are responsible for what you share.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, or harmful;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service;
- Use the Service to distribute malware or unsolicited communications;
- Exceed fair usage limits or bypass rate limits and quotas;
- Resell, sublicense, or share access credentials with others;
- Use the Service to violate any third party's rights or applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. Third-Party Content and Services
The Service may embed videos hosted on third-party platforms (such as YouTube or Vimeo) via their public players. Those videos remain subject to the respective platform's terms. We do not host or control that content. We rely on third-party providers (including Supabase for database/authentication and Vercel for hosting).
7. Subscriptions and Fees
The Service is currently offered free of charge during its beta period. Paid plans may be introduced in the future; they will be clearly described before you subscribe, and you will have the option to accept or decline them. We may discontinue the free tier with reasonable notice.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service itself — including its code, design, logos, and branding — is owned by us and our licensors, and is protected by intellectual property laws. You receive no rights to the Service beyond those granted in these Terms.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your access will cease; we will provide a reasonable opportunity to export Your Content unless prohibited by law.
10. Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising out of your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred euros.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and, where applicable, the laws of the country in which we are established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless mandatory consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
